There is new software called Cimplicity Machine Edition, Logic Developer. I believe people are running it under W2K, although GE Fanuc does not officially support it. I'm successfully running LM90 under NT4.0 SP6.

The one advantage of LM-90 is that it doesn't have the soft-key registration hurdles. You must create the project in VersaPro, although afterwards revisions to the ladder logic can be done in Machine Edition. The one significant advantage of VersaPro over Machine Edition is that the Max-ON hot standby CPU software does not work with Machine Edition. I'm told that v4.0 has 'fixed' the printing problems. The printing in v3.0 is almost tolerable, yet a marked improvement over earlier versions. While Machine Edition is notable superior to VersaPro in a number of ways, printing is not one of them. However, it doesn't have many of the features in VersaPro, let alone Cimplicity Machine Edition. See your distributor if you have any of these symptoms. LM90 was a fine piece of DOS software, but it was a horse that GE Fanuc tried to ride for too long, and then they mismangaed the transition to a Windows package. VersaPro can be set up to prevent you from downloading to a too-old firmware version (default setting), to warn you that you are trying to download to an older version, or to unconditionally permit you to download.
